Elders of Uyo Senatorial District have congratulated the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Obong Nsima Ekere, on his conferment of Honourary Doctorate Degree on Management Technology by the Federal University of Technology (FUTO), Owerri, Imo State.
In a statement issued by the elders under a Joint Action Committee comprising of Uyo Senatorial District Elders Forum (USDEF) and Uyo Senatorial Mandate Group (USMG), signed by Chairman and Secretary of USDEF, Otuekong Sunny Jackson Udoh and Hon. Dr. Ita Udosen; as well as Chairman and Secretary of USMG, Ntufam Akan Okon and Otuekong Engr. Ime Mbom, the elders while felicitating with the NDDC MD declared that ‘the cap fits’ him.
“We congratulate a true son of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Nsima Ekere on his conferment with an Honourary Degree Doctor of Management Technology (D.Tech) by the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) on Saturday April 7, 2018. The cap fits, Congratulations!”, the statement reads in part.
The elders also lent their voice to the zoning of political offices in 2019.
“As we prepare for the next political dispensation and to make for the desired equity and balancing, we make the following propositions: (a) Governorship to go to Eket Senatorial District to allow the District complete 8 years. (b) Deputy Governorship position to come to Uyo Senatorial District. This District has not produced a Deputy Governor since 1987 when Akwa Ibom was created. (c) Speakership of the State House of Assembly to go to Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District. (d) The Senatorial seat for Uyo to go to Uyo Federal Constituency”, they suggested.
The added that zoning is “advanced to sustain the practice that has endured since the creation of Akwa Ibom State.”
