NTA Award to Udom Emmanuel: A’Ibom APC Takes on PDP State Publicity Secretary

Last Monday, March 12th 2018 The Nation Newspaper published a rejoinder by the Akwa Ibom State Publicity Secretary, Comrade Iniobong Ememobong to my advertorial published in the same paper on 8th March 2018.

As expected, Ememobong evaded key issues mentioned in the advertorial which highlighted the failures and malfeasance that characterize the Udom Administration and why he (Udom) is undeserving of the so called “Integrity Award” erroneously yielded to him by the Management of NTA.

The PDP Publicity Secretary failed to address/dispute the following key points in his rejoinder;

1. Udom Emmanuel regularly insults President Buhari either directly or through his proxies.

2. Udom’s PA on media recently posted on Facebook that Buhari’s cows were better fed than Nigerians.

3. Over 30 people were killed in the electoral fraud that threw up Udom as Governor in 2015

4. The violent bloodshed has not ceased as more than 100 persons have been killed in politically motivated murders in Ukanafun, Etim Ekpo and Ika Local Governments in the last 2 years.

5. Udom has commissioned billboards to be erected across the state to advertise the NTA award as an endorsement for re-election by the Presidency.

6. Udom is not transparent and indulges in wasteful spending of state funds.

7. The state budget is a guided secret.

8. Akwa Ibom Fire service has only 2 functional fire trucks donated by NDDC.

9. Udom cannot maintain municipal services like street lights and waste disposal.

10. Akwa Ibom media Houses black out APC, NDDC and activities of Federal Government Agencies and personalities.

11. Udom’s government thrives on propaganda and deception as he has failed in his electoral promises to the people.

12. Udom latches on the successes of his predecessor with no identifiable project and outstanding performance.

13. The NTA Act of 1977 does not provide for presentation of award to inappropriate persons.

14. The eyes of the Nation are on Akwa Ibom because of the humongous sums it receives monthly from the FAAC. Udom has nothing commensurate to show for the over N700 billion he has received since assumption of office.

Rather than dispute the fore-going claims which serve to attest to the fact that Udom is not a fit and proper person to be bestowed with the “Integrity Award”, Ememobong went on a rant about past and the coming elections.

Tell me, why would APC nay Akwa Ibomites not cry and wail over the ineptitude and insensitivity of Udom Emmanuel who receives N2billion monthly security vote but allows the killings, kidnappings, rape and violence in Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun to continue unabated. APC is crying aloud for the world to hear of the mayhem in Akwa Ibom North East senatorial district. It does not matter to the PDP if people in the affected areas are completely wiped out so long as “Mr. Integrity” sustains a semblance of peace in Akwa Ibom to attract phony business schemes by adventurers from the “East” who come to prospect on the wealth of the state through proxies affiliated to government.

Why would APC not wail over the misadventure of Udom Emmanuel called government who knows nothing about governance. A Deacon of the Church who has not hidden his arrogance and pomposity even as an accidental head of government. APC has every reason to cry as our common wealth is being frittered away by the inept government of Deacon Emmanuel.

Consumed by power and amazed by the pecks and perquisite of office, Mr. Emmanuel started his re-election campaign barely a year in office. Every activity and conversation of government is geared towards second term. Its foolhardy to hear the PDP Publicity secretary talk of APC crying over elections. Which election? Has PDP ever won an election fair and square? If he meant PDP stolen elections! Yes, everyone is bound to grief when something of value is stolen from him/her. PDP should be ashamed of its stolen electoral successes; both via the ballot box and the Courts. May I remind the Comrade that “All is not well” anymore. For 20 years PDP has raped Akwa Ibom of her wealth and resources leaving the people impoverished. The perpetrators of that criminality (Obongowo) have become notable persons in the society. “Boys have become men” with loud mouth and voices to shout down Elders. What an absurdity!

The impetus and effrontery with which they talk down on Akwa Ibomites whom they have held captive for 20years is nauseating and repulsive. The state is their captive territory and people who must remain shielded from light by the umbrella, suppressed and kept in bondage to be exploited for their profit. No wonder the Publicity secretary makes no effort to defend his accomplices from the charges of ineptitude and cluelessness of the Administration. Let Ememobong and his cohorts not be deceived by the docility and near subservience of the less discerning populace to the ignoble and unpopular government of Mr. Emmanuel.

Time is ticking. APC has busted the bubble of lies and deceit of the PDP who would have its full by May 2019. Twenty years of unprofitable gyration, economic misadventure and national calamity. In Akwa Ibom it will be 16 locust years, manifest uncommon waste and profligacy whose perpetrators have continued to position themselves for continuing exploitation of the people.

The wind of change is in the horizon. Akwa Ibomites have gotten wiser and ready to denounce a party and government structured to serve the interest of a few persons against the vast majority of the people.
