Ekere Commends Akwa Ibom APC faithful
The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Nsima Ekere, has commended members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State for their show of popularity and peaceful conduct despite the disenfranchisement of the electorate during the December 2, 2017 local government election.
In a press statement, Ekere said it was clear that the popularity of the APC candidates caused the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) to collude with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to massively rig the election and deny the people of the state the opportunity to freely and fairly choose their chairmen and councillors.
He criticised AKISIEC for fraudulently allocating figures to PDP candidates even when elections did not hold in almost the entire state.
The NDDC boss commended the APC candidates for not resorting to violence despite the brazen manipulation of the elections.
He called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure that the votes of the electorate count and are counted in subsequent elections unlike the show of shame of last Saturday.
Ekere urged the APC faithful and the entire people of Akwa Ibom State to continue to support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to enjoy more democracy dividends.
